      Port security refers to the defense, law and treaty enforcement, and counterterrorism activities that fall within the port and maritime domain. It includes the protection of seaports themselves, the protection and inspection of cargo moving through the ports, and maritime security.
     Border controls exist to: -regulate immigration (both legal and illegal) -control the movement of citizens collect excise tax -prevent smuggling of drugs, weapons, endangered species and other illegal or hazardous material -control the spread of human or animal diseases.
